Maundy Thursday
From an amazing treehouse hammock in South Florida, I’m thinking about Maundy Thursday and Jesus’ commandment to love (John 13:34-35). I have taken this to be the highest directive from Jesus most of my adult life. It seems completely appropriate today. Asย a Baptist not all my values line up with those of the state. And they should not. But assuring freedom to love – God, our fellow human beings, or even choosing to love no one at all – is worth standing up for.
